Usually I go to reserve between 90 and 100 miles - always fill up before 120 miles. This is at conservative highway speeds - 60-65 mph.
Trick I learned last summer from a Savage rider from Billings Montana was to carry a grease pencil and simply write the mileage at the fill up on the speedometer face- a tiny simple math calculation and presto - you know how far you have gone on each tank of gas.
